We are putting a piece of Switzerland’s culture up to auction in a good cause.


The commercials with the two ibexes Gian and Giachen have been part of Swiss cultural heritage for over 13 years - their sayings have become part of the vernacular, their children's books are bestsellers, and it's hard to imagine souvenir stores without the two natives. Starting today, selected sayings will be auctioned on the blockchain as NFTs. The proceeds go entirely back to the nature of Graubünden, so that future generations can still experience it in its original form.

Starting today, anyone can bid on this Swiss cultural treasure: The tourism advertisements with the ibexes Gian and Giachen. The buyer secures the unique digital ownership rights to one of the legendary scenes. This is made possible by NFTs - non-fungible tokens - which, as in the analog world, ensure that each work of art belongs to only one person.

All proceeds go back to the home of Gian and Giachen: The breathtaking nature of Graubünden.

Advertising - recycled for nature

Some of the films are up to 13 years old. «Recycling these older, but still current and popular sayings for a good cause is a wonderful action for us that benefits our nature» says Martin Vincenz, CEO of Graubünden Ferien.

«Further, we are reviving the famous scenes with our heraldic animal and showing the whole world our beautiful landscapes, where you can live or spend your vacations. And this on digital platforms, where you have probably never seen advertising like this before» adds Gieri Spescha, Managing Director of Marke graubünden.

An additional climate protection contribution for the auction.

Of course, the auction itself should also be climate-friendly. Through myclimate, a Swiss foundation for climate protection, a climate protection contribution was made that benefits nature in addition to the proceeds of the auction.
